Day 3 in Red River, New Mexico & we are having so much fun! We have done a lot of eating and a lot of exploring… what else do you do on vacation?! Oh and drank a lot of coffee! #noshame Tonight we went to the Torch Light Parade at the ski resort. It’s always a fun thing to do at night since it get dark around 3:30-4:00 bc the sun gets behind the mountains. The parade only lasts about 10 minutes, but worth freezing with hundreds of other people to watch! They shoot off fireworks and about 50 people ski down with lit up skies, gear, and glow sticks! If you’re ever in Red River during New Years it’s for sure something to attend. There is also another one tomorrow that we’re going to for NYE!
I have gone skiing almost every year since I was about 6 or 7 and I love it. We’ve always gone to Red River. I like coming here rather than trying a new resort bc I know the way around the mountain. If you follow my blog you will come to know I like what’s familiar and it’s harder for me to try new things. It’s always how I’ve been! Maybe one day I will branch out and try Colorado 😉
I wore this outfit today for our little adventure. I’m not going to lie my hat is a girls, but I couldn’t resist! It was so cute– so I caved and purchased. Also, I have a small head… My seven year old brother has the same head size as me. It kinda makes me sad?? Does that make me not as smart? Haha! These OTK boots are one of my fave purchase of 2017. I have skinnier legs so it’s hard to find OTK boots that stay up on my legs but these do! They are currently 40% off. Worth the buy!
I hope everyone has a great NYE weekend and stays safe!!
I am so excited to finally be publishing my first post! I have started writing this so many times, shut my computer and given up 20 minutes later. It’s hard to stay focused and write without feeling hopeless staring at a blank page. I mean I’ll be honest I’m not the greatest writer, but I know I love talking fashion so why not give it a shot? Sometimes it is so hard to get started on something like this even when you know the things you enjoy talking about. I have finally taken the leap of faith and here I am writing. I created this blog to have fun with the little things in life. I also love to shop so why not share my picks and help others shop too?! I have been a girly girl since I came out of the womb I believe.. I use to get in trouble just about every day when I was little because I would wear 4, sometimes even 5 different outfits in one day. My mom was tired of doing all my laundry and my dad hated walking past my dirty room seeing clothes everywhere! Ha! Life of a girl though, am I right? I know I’m not the only one out there!
SO, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk Denver. [I wrote this post in July but am publishing now- forgive me for the delay!] This past weekend I took a trip to Denver, Colorado with some friends. I turned 21 on Tuesday and one of my friends turned 25 the Friday we flew down.
Let’s back track real quick.. I’m actually 21?! I’m still in shock that the day has finally arrived! I swear I never thought it would! I also never thought at the age of 21 I would be writing a blog post for the whole world to see. Life is crazy!
A group of my friends were all flying to Denver for a golf tournament. We decided it would be fun to celebrate our birthdays where we could all be in the same place, but a different town to experience new surroundings. We had a great time going out and celebrating. After going out night 2, the next morning all we wanted was food. Typical. We found a little spot walking distance so that was the first place we chose. It was called The Breakfast King, the cutest little place. It was extremely packed but only 3 of us girls went so we were seated in the back right away. It had such a 70’s vibe and the staff was so sweet! The food was amazing and so was the coffee. I do believe it’s hard to mess up breakfast food, but come on give me a cute spot with nice people and it’s bound to have great food.
The other days my friend Kynze and I traveled around during the day while they all played golf. We found some cute little shops and loved the atmosphere of 16th street and the downtown mall. Our last day we got up and were bound to find another good breakfast spot. If you can’t tell we are breakfast girls. I got on Google, looked up some reviews and jackpot, we found a winner. We get in an Uber and headed to Duffeyroll Café. We asked our Uber driver if he had ever gone and it was like he just was told he won the lottery. He was like, “Oh my gosh I haven’t had that in so long. I’m OBSESSED with that place.. I think I’m going to cut my shift so I can go with you guys!” Haha!
So as you all will surely come to know, I am the pickiest and most plain person when it comes to food. I don’t even know why it mattered so much as to where we went because I get the same thing just about anywhere. I like what I like, why change it up?! If you’re dying to know I ordered scrambled eggs and toast. Which is something I could eat every morning and be perfectly content. What am I talking about… I do eat scrambled eggs every morning.. BUT Duffeyroll is famous for their duffeyrolls (which is like a mini cinnamon roll- hints the name) Kynze got one with her meal. I had a bite and 100% recommend. I will say their coffee was one of the best I’ve ever had, no joke. I ordered a cinnamon spice coffee and added a little French vanilla creamer and I think I could probably live off it for the next 10 years?? If we would’ve found this place the first day we were there I would’ve been the first one there every morning. Well, maybe not the first because I cherish sleep, but you get the point. So yeah basically if you are ever in Denver, Duffeyroll Café is the move for you.
On another note how about the weather though?! In the evenings it dropped down around the 60’s and felt amazing. I loved visiting Colorado, but it’s safe to say I am happy to be back in Texas. Btw this was my first vacation without my golf clubs and I think that was the highlight of the entire trip. Oops! It was nice to fly somewhere and just relax for once. (I play college golf) Well I hope I didn’t ramble on too long, That’s the recap of my trip!
Does anyone else know any good places to go in Denver?!
